Wurlitzer Fountains
North Tonawanda, NY

The iconic Wurlitzer Tower was completed in 1924 and the fountains on the grounds, together with the pools were completed in 1927. Made of Carrara Marble imported from Florence, Italy, the fountains and pools became a focal point of the landscaping that enhanced one of this area’s most important manufacturing landmarks. The Historical Society of the Tonawandas recently acquired this two-foot-wide, hand-tinted and framed photo taken around 1930. Discovered in the basement of an Oliver Street apartment, the original photo was in poor condition, but after some careful digital restoration, this beautiful image is now available for viewing.
