Our Lady of Czestochowa Church
Oliver Street and Center Avenue, North Tonawanda, NY

Our Lady of Czestochowa Church was the site of our Holiday Party on December 11th. For 115 years OLC has served the spiritual and educational needs of the predominately Polish community.

Valerie (Wiech) Cronin is a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda who grew up across the street from OLC with her parents and two brothers. They attended church there and it was also where she was married. Val obtained her bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Bonaventure University and a Master’s in Health Services Administration. She recently retired from a thirty-year plus career in health care administration.

Today, Val serves as President of the Board of the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier and Vice President on the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas. Last May she was awarded Distinguished Toast Master from Toastmaster International recognizing her communication and leadership skills.

Valerie shared a little history of the church and pointed out some of its unique and beautiful features while recalling her own memories of life in the community and Polish Christmas traditions.

Refreshments of holiday treats including some special Polish Christmas goodies were served in the parish hall along with coffee, tea, and conversation.
