Volunteer Recognition Event

Volunteer Recognition Event • June12, 2019

Historical Society members enjoyed a casual evening of conversation and camaraderie at the Niawanda Park Pavilion for this year’s annual June picnic. The natural beauty of the river, great food and renewed friendships provided a perfect way to celebrate the onset of another magnificent summer season in the Tonawandas. In appreciation of our many faithful volunteers and loyal Society members, a delicious complimentary picnic buffet was served up by Jim Fingerlow of Just Say Cheesecake Café & Bakery.

The theme for the evening was “Melody Fair Remembered.” The museum’s archival collection provided photographic displays of musical productions, performers, playbills and programs from 1958-1998 when Melody Fair was a North Tonawanda theatrical institution. Special guest Joe Romanowski, a 30 year production manager for Melody Fair, regaled the crowd with tales of backstage antics and performers quirky behavior. All in all it was a delightful evening and a great way to celebrate with our members.
